Rm 6 at the awesome Natureland

Rm 6 went on a trip to the amazing Natureland and got to meet lots of friendly animals like birds/pigs/turtles/fish/monkeys and many more!

First of all we went to the beach and had delicious lunch then we got a 20 minute play at the beach.

After that we started packing up and then headed to Natureland. When we got there we met a lady called Christine who showed us some stuff about the animals that were in New Zealand  about 500 years ago but some are dead like the mighty moa. We also looked at some of the other animals like the greedy tui and the pukeko called Mar-mite (we also got to see some owls). Then we saw 2 really big pests like the magpie and the possum.  After we sat down to see lizard scales, porcupine spikes, a cats scull and a rats scull (eww yucky sculls).  Also we got to feel all of those items and touch some possum fur and a stuffed weasel (eww even yuckier).

Our favorite animals were:

*the talking bird that said hello (Bradey)
*the cutie guinea pigs (Macs)
*the sweet little tui (Miss Bankers).

It was probably the best trip we have been on.

The senior syndicate cross country is going to be in week 5 of term 2. Room 6 and room 5 have been running round the school to practice for the cross country.  On a Wednesday, all of the seniors have been going to the beach to practice. When you do the cross country you have a group of three.  First one of you will run part of the track and then you tag one of your partners.  Then they run and they tag your other partner, who then runs.  This happens a few times.  The hardest part is to run on the sand because the sand slows you down and you need to run up a hill when coming off the beach.

Don't forget to come and watch us run!  It will be on Friday the 7th of June.
